Before The World Is Green
2017
By Tanya Erickson
The dewey frost sits upon the barren blades
Before the world is green
The shadows of the buildings tall and grey
Before the world is green
The slushy snow melt in the gutters of the salty streets
Before the world is green
Broken branches hang from skeleton trees
Before the world is green
Creepy crawly critters entombed in their earthen homes
Before the world is green
The canvas overhead with oranges, blues and reds
Before the world is green
The hum of existence mumbles behind the walls
Before the world is green
The stiffened joints of moving parts
Before the world is green
The frosty edge of society
Before the world is green
The disillusion of the warming sun
Before the world is green
The solid ground frozen beneath our booted feet
Before the world is green
The heavy soul shrouded in clouds
Before the world is green
