Christmas at the Erickson House
December 2015
'Twas a few nights before Christmas in the Erickson House.
My children live here, it's way too loud for a mouse.
The boys' stockings are strewn from here to there.
You can find socks under the table and behind all the chairs.
We read them stories and put them to bed.
Despite pleading to stay up and watch TV instead.
Finally mom and dad have some time together.
If we could stay awake long enough, it would be better.
The boys' radios spread songs through the air.
Lights are all on, it's only electricity, who cares?!?
Toys are tossed all over the floor.
Fighting ensues. What more could a parent ask for?
Clean up this mess! Pick up these toys!
Your dad is still sleeping, stop making so much noise!
Can we have breakfast? I want cereal! I want toast!
Funny how neither of these are things mom wants most!
One child is wild, free-spirited and funny.
While the other loves states, reading, and spending money.
So very different yet so much the same.
Without them around, life would surely be lame.
The pee on the seat, the stink in the air.
I know these are the reasons why I'm getting gray hair.
Despite all the noise, the mess, and the toys.
I am ever so grateful for these two little boys!
Capture your moments, hold onto them tight
Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night
